Last night I stayed up until 3:00 a.m helping design a new website for my friend's company. This morning after breakfast I started working on it again and asked for him to resize the images to 400 pixels by 400 pixels for his product page. He responded that he wanted his images in 300 pixels by 300 pixels on the product page. I explained to him that I would batch re-size them and keep the 400 pixel squares as design assets in case we wanted to add a zoom function in the future to his products' images but his images would be displayed as 300 by 300 pixels. After arguing for about 30 minutes on this subject, the air turned slightly sour, I'm taking a breather. During this breather, I signed up to twitter and filed some receipts.
Patience really is a virtue. I guess this is a friendly reminder that if we ever receive free help whether it's from our friend, neighbor or even stranger - we should be extra aware and extra tactful that their time could possibly be vested into something more interesting to them. I know I've definitely forgotten this more than a couple times. It happens to the best of us.
UPDATE: I guess we were both wrong ... we ended up using 550 x 550 pixel images.
